Taxidermy Thursday

Things are returning to normal gradually.  I’m back to my weekly session working on bird specimens.  I botched an Evening Grosbeak this week, so he ended up being parts instead of a skin.  Still, that was a good lesson in itself.

The Evening Grosbeak has the most beautiful, soft olive color. I wished I could take him home for some color studies in my sketchbook. Perhaps they will let me check one out later.

One thing I really enjoy about these sessions is the details you can see that are near impossible to see in a live bird.

Something I never knew about the cedar waxwing.

Of course, there is always something interesting to see in Matt's workshop.
