Pulp Fiber Test

I’m working on the final details for a lecture I’m giving the local weaver’s guild, and just wanted to share this picture.

I took it to demonstrate the vast difference between Western papermaking fibers and Eastern papermaking fibers.

Top is cotton rag, beaten in my mini-Hollander (the Lander Critter).  Center is hollander-beaten hemp rag.  Bottom is hand-beaten kozo (paper mulberry).

This one of the reasons artists love washi and hanji papers so much.
