I’m working on the final details for a lecture I’m giving the local weaver’s guild, and just wanted to share this picture.
I took it to demonstrate the vast difference between Western papermaking fibers and Eastern papermaking fibers.
Top is cotton rag, beaten in my mini-Hollander (the Lander Critter). Center is hollander-beaten hemp rag. Bottom is hand-beaten kozo (paper mulberry).
This one of the reasons artists love washi and hanji papers so much.
